Recognized by Southern Living in 2010 as one of the Top Ten Summer Attractions in the South, The Upstate Shakespeare Festival draws an audience of 15,000+ annually from the Upstate to Falls Park in downtown Greenville.

This summer festival is offered at no charge to the public. Picnics and lawn chairs are encouraged! The company presents the magic of Shakespeare and other classic plays in Falls Park Amphitheatre. Incorporating actors from throughout the Upstate, these shows feature high-quality, entertaining, inclusive, and family-friendly productions which enhance Greenville’s calling card as a summer destination.

This summer marks the 19th season for the festival, and the 15th under the direction of USF Producing Artistic Director, John Fagan. The season will begin with Hamlet, opening May 23rd and running through June 15th. Comedy of Errors will open on July 11th and run through August 3rd. Performances are Thursday through Sunday, beginning at 7:00pm, weather permitting.

Fagan is thrilled to direct Hamlet and commented, “If the past is any indication of what audiences enjoy, The Comedy of Errors should be a huge laugh-a-minute hit too. The last time we staged it the audience in the park kept growing with every performance. I expect much of the same this season.”

“Being able to keep the festival free allows audiences who have never before experienced live theatre to enjoy a sometimes life-alerting evening of art. I'm proud of the work we do every summer and very proud that Bank of America has come on board,” he stated.

“Bank of America is dedicated to strengthening the surrounding communities we serve,” said Brian Jones, Greenville president, Bank of America. “We’re proud to sponsor the Warehouse Theatre Upstate Shakespeare Festival. This unique opportunity will not only bring a cultural experience to the residents and visitors of Greenville but also provide significant economic impact that contributes to the local economy.”
