The Last Lynching

July 25th and 26th at 8pm.

Join The Distracted Globe for a reading of "The Last Lynching," by local playwrights John Jeter and Lucy Beam Hoffman.  This two-act drama tells the story of the largest lynching trial in U.S. history, drawing primarily from British journalist Rebecca West’s June, 1947 piece in The New Yorker, titled “Opera in Greenville.”  This compelling piece of local history tells the story of the trial of 31 white men accused of lynching a black man, Willie Earle.
